Meeting on the path.

I had a nice surprise this morning on my way to the old line at Holywell.
He didn't stop there just wanted a closer look!.

On the line I was entertained by a family of longtails.

Then even more fledglings when I arrived back home.

It was nice to see all four fledge

Whitethroat's revisited

I  managed to escape for a hour or so onto the old line at Holywell in an effort to keep in touch with the Whitethroats that were calling and singing a few weeks ago,I sure wasn't dissapointed although things were a lot quieter ,nest upkeep and parenting seemed to be the order of the day as can be seen.

Whitethroat serenade

A very enjoyable early morning trip onto the old line at Holywell saw me serenaded from the off by numerous Whitethroats and the occasional gravely Sedge warbler, here are a few pics from my morning escape !.

I feel  sure that this guy (below ) is stuck to the twig as he has been in the same place for the last few days and does not move for walkers or passing bikes I do believe I could almost touch him ?.

The subsidence pond comes very close to the old line now and so does the bird life

oops I nearly forgot me Sedgy

.Thanks for looking and stay safe.

Pre lock-down / home

Here is a couple of images from Holywell Pond  pre lock-down,these are quite cute and a bit of a favourite of mine.

I think it must have followed me home ??

This guy was showing an interest as well from across the way !!

This is when I escaped from lock-down prison for an hour to check on the
Dene Dipper family.

Looks like they are doing fine (now back to jail )

Pilgrimage !!

Yes I too took to the well trodden path done by many to Northumberland Park to catch up with the not so shy Water rail and it didn't let us down although an afternoon session perhaps would have been better for the light.

This fella was also very obliging

Its many years since I was down this way with the camera taking pics of a more colourful bird

Jeepers is it so many years ago !!!
where have them years gone ?

thanks for looking.

Holywell Pond

A trip down the pond last week saw me heading for the members hide to seek shelter from the howling wind , opening the shutters i saw i wasn't the only one as this Goosander was doing the same.

Never managed to get this close before

Aptly named sawbill !

It was a nice surprise on a nasty day.
